AL Group and Smart Ship Hub create integrated emissions reporting workflow with ABS

29 October 2025

AL Group – comprising Asiatic Lloyd in Singapore and Atlantic Lloyd in Hamburg – has partnered with Smart Ship Hub to enable automated live emissions reporting to the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The Smart Ship Hub platform has been deployed across AL Group’s entire fleet, combining high-frequency sensor data with legacy and historical records to support real-time emissions reporting, condition-based maintenance, and data quality management.

“Our collaboration with Smart Ship Hub has unlocked value across technical, commercial and regulatory fronts,” said Tonci Zdunic, Group Fleet Director at AL Group.

“We monitor and control performance of our vessels on real-time analysing of HF (high-frequency) sensor data and benchmarking against our company KPIs. We drove KPI and outcome-based success criteria from the beginning. We are delighted to say that we are now at par or ahead of the top 1% that has gone through the full cycle of digital transformation.”

Singapore-based Smart Ship Hub’s Vessel Reporting System (VRS) can be remotely deployed on existing onboard systems without hardware upgrades and includes a self-updating regulatory engine to ensure alignment with evolving compliance standards.

“We are delighted see that AL Group has become the first ship owner and manager to utilise the live emission reporting through the ABS platform,” said CEO of Smart Ship Hub Joy Basu.

“Smart Ship Hub is committed to providing a digital roadmap for companies to lay out their digitalisation plans to ensure they remain competitive as the industry moves towards a data-driven new digital era.”
